Winterfest II

So I was a little negative about Winterfest yesterday. No one has said anything but I feel a bit guilty about my bitching. Let me clarify that my complaining about WF had nothing to do with the event and everything to do with me.
My brilliant idea of walking over there with my 3 year old didn't pan out. The fact that I'm lazy as hell and sooo not in shape didn't help matters at all. After a bit a reflection, I really didn't plan my attack on this event well or take my physical abilities, or lack of, into account.

Today I can't even touch my biceps let alone lift anything and my knees are killing me. What was I thinking??? Winterfest is great for older children. I'm just not sure I would drag my 3 year old along for the walk again. Taking a sled was not an option. As I mentioned yesterday, there was not alot of room for cars and pedestrians on the path to the site. Having JJ in a sled simply would not have been safe. The good news is that she loved the slides.
I drove past at 5:30 tonight and the heavy equipment was already tearing everything down. So long till next year....if I've recovered.

I didn't really take it as WF being a bad thing....walking a 3 year old over there no matter how close you lived sounded like unfortunate thing to do, although, taking a child under 5 anywhere can usually lead to mom or dad doing A LOT of work no matter what? That sled would have been the biggest PITA ever...my experience is you can plan the bestest and it be the worstest....

LOL - Course I think I've gotten used to your complaining...LOL

Personally I think Winterfest is a bit of a bust. Every year I think it's going to be this really big thing and well........it's not. the dogs are too tired to pull anything, the mazed looks like it's made from dirty cowpies, and the tent smells like hay and manure.

the slides were fun.....AND we jumped on a bus on the southside and didn't have to worry about any parking or whatever. It was best to take the southside bus....the one from Brookside was packed.

I know I shouldn't complain because I'm not involved in the planning nor plan to be.....but a skating rink would be good. So would a music/dance exercise thing with mascot and movement etc for the kids........lots of wintery other things could be arranged.....snowshoes etc lots could be done.......

HOWEVER.......I laughed out loud watching the little anklebiters on the slide. Some of them were laughing so hard telling me it was the greatest thing they had EVER done in their whole little lives. That was worth it.
