Gloomy Day

I'm back on a carribean vacation kick again. It must have something to do with the weather. When it gets cold and gloomy I start to crave the beach. Eric and I are currently in talks with another couple to pick a vacation destination. We've all been to the Dominican Republic a few times so we don't want to go again and Cuba is out for different reasons. We've discussed Mexico and Jamaica. I'd love to go back to Jamaica...I really, really love it. Hopefully in the next week we'll have an idea of a destination.
I even like getting ready for the trip. Buying new bikinis (a favourite hobby of mine), getting sunscreen, hats, toiletries, going tanning to get a base (I sunburn like the dickens.), digging out my summer clothes and trying them all on. Sigh....I'd take the first plan to any place tropical right now.
I'd looooove to go to a Sandals resort but that's out of our price range. Besides all I really need is a clean beach, palm trees, and some food. All the rest is icing on the cake.

Two requests today 1) Does anyone have any destination suggestions? 2) Anyone want to join us? We're likely going mid to the end of April.

Got Me Some Boots

I bought myself a new skirt (hold in your laughter and jokes) and sweater yesterday. Then I decided that the new skirt could only be worn with boots. Of course, I did not have the appropriate boots that I envisioned for this outfit. I decided to buy some today at lunch time. I did not think for one minute it would be an easy task...for multiple reasons. Frist, and formost, the women in my family are blessed with tree trunks for legs. Argh...it is such a task to find boots that come just below the knee and zip up. We (my mom, sister, and I) can't get the stupid boots to zip over our fats calves. Sorry Jenn, but you know it's the sad truth. If we can finally get them zipped, with the help of large machinery, there is little to no blood flow the the lower portion of the leg.
The second problem, for me anyway, is that I'm so darn picky. When I was a kid my mother refused to go shoe shopping with me. She found it so frustrating that she sent me with my grandmother. I can't say I blame her. I distinctly remember being in grade 1 and I HAD to have sneakers to the following specifications - velcro, gray in color, with a little side pocket that zippered. I was 6 years old...what the hell? Well, my Nanna found them for me...of course. I'm just as specific about my boots. I didn't want them to be chunky, I hate when they slouch or wrinkle and I detest when they are to tight around the ankle. The boots must zip, cannot be pull on in a sock-like fashion around the calf. They must be leather (or fake at least) in nature and must NOT have any animal markings at all (ei snake skin....ewwwwww...I actually saw some).
I really didn't think I'd find some today but lo and behold I did! And in under and hour! How do you like them apples? I will say that the purchase of said boots has made those extra stamp sets I wanted a thing of the past. The boots are mine, all mine for the low, low price of...$140. I will be buried in those boots....maybe sooner rather than later if hubby finds the receipt.

My Blog Hates Me

Seriously, I haven't even been able to log on since yesterday afternoon. Before that, it lost my post twice and then when I was finally able to publish it did weird things. Maybe it is punishment for addressing serious topics and not telling of my humiliating experiences lately.

The truth is - I haven't really humiliated myself in quite awhile. Odd, huh? Now that I've said that I'll probably do something stupid like leave the house without pants and underwear tomorrow. Hehehe...we're all in trouble if that happens.

The area where I sit at work has this heat issue. People at one end of the short hall (about 30 feet long) are freezing cold and at my end we are so hot that we all have sweat marks by 10 am. Management is trying to rectify the problem but it's not an easy fix. One day last week the coporate services manager was down at our end talking about the problem and one of the "cold" poeple said we, the warm people, should take off more layers. I was sitting there in a short sleeve shirt and said "If I take off any more clothing I'll be sent home for sitting here in my bra." Ha ha....little do they know. Good think I work with a good bunch of people, huh?

Dance class last night was awesome. It took half a roll of pics. Every little girl in the class was wearing a body suit and tutu. Jillian's was pink and she was, of course, the cutest. She did really well, she stayed in line, paid attention etc. However, she didn't always do the same dance moves as the instructors were teaching. Jillian did alot of her own freestyle spinning and "rump shaking". The parents are only allowed in the room for the first night. I sat there with a huge smile on my face. I loved it and so did she. She was disappointed when it was over. I'm soooo going to be the crazy mother that sleeps outside the Playhouse the night before tickets for the show go on sale. Somebody bring me Tim's in the morning, okay?

A friend who reads this blog was telling me that one of her friends, whom I don't know, reads my blog and pictured me as a blond. I'm not.. I'm brunette, with blue eyes, and pale skin. I love long walks on the beach, dancing, and just talking. For a good time call 555-1234. Oh wait a minute, my personal add goes on that "other" site.

So Excited!

My baby girl starts tap dancing tonight. I can't freakin' wait. I have to say I've been waiting for this day since the moment they said "It's a girl!" I immediately thought "Yes, she'll go to tap!" If you are female, and sometimes male, it is almost a rite of passage to be a Bonnie Kilburn dancer. I did it, my sister did it, my best friend and her sister...the list goes on and on. I loved dancing but wasn't very good at it.
Jillian loves to dance and I love to watch her. I could watch her all day. She is very excited for her dance class tonight. I have a little pink leotard for her with dance shoes on the front and a pink tutu attached to it. She is going to look so darn cute. I will, of course, take a roll of film of her tonight. She can't wait to see Bonnie. I introduced her to Bonnie at the Frex and Jillian has been talking about her ever since. She keeps saying "Bonnie will be at my dance class, Mama. " I've trying to gently explain to her that Bonnie won't be her teacher. But she is having none of that. She keeps telling me Bonnie will be there.
Ahhhh....I can't wait for tonight. I'm ashamed to say I'm one of THOSE crazy parents. LOL...kidding...I'm so NOT ashamed!!!

Just a Few Points

Religion Part II - just a few points.

*For the record, I'm not anti-religion.
* I like learning about different reglions. I just don't necessarily believe. It's no different than a Jewish person finding Hinduism interesting and learning abou itt - they just don't necessarily believe. Make sense?
* I NEVER talk about this stuff in front of my daughter. In fact, I'll likely be a giant hypocrite and send her to Sunday School. Why? So she can learn, be informed, and make her own decisions for herself.
* I rarely say much about my relgious beliefs to anyone but my husband and one other friend who has similar thoughts and questions. Why? Because I would NEVER want to cause anyone to question their own beliefs. I've spoken to some of you about it but only very little.
* The DaVinci Code did NOT help form my opinions on religion. Having said that, I must ask, retorically, would it be so bad if Jesus and Mary Magdelene were married and had a family? Would it be so bad to have Jesus also be a good example of family? I'm not foolish enough to think it's that simple.
* The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons (another novel by the same author) made me ask questions about the Vatican. Specifically, what world history is locked up that we don't know about and how different our world would be. Same for government secrets.
* Here is the one I know some people are waiting for....What was the main influence is my religious opinions? I went to St. Thomas University...ironically enough a catholic university. It was an eye opener for me.

The Dog Ate My Samosas!!

Eric told me this story the other night and it just struck me as hilarious.

We were driving past a playground and Eric says to me "That's where the dog stole my samosas." I asked what he was talking about and he says "I didn't tell you about that?" When I was in PEI Eric and Jillian went to the market to get samosas. On the way home they decided to stop at a playground. Eric took the samosas with him to snack on while Jillie played. (Crap, I can't stop laughing as I write this). He said he put them on the slide while he pushed her on the swing. When he turned around he saw a little white bag, like his samosa bag, flying around on the ground. So, he walked over and it turns out it was his bag and his samosas were on the ground. At this point in his tale he says to me "A dog took my samosas!" To which I reply "Did you see a dog around?" He says "No, but that's what it had to be." At this time I feel it necessary to say the park they were at is a wide open space. There isn't much of anywhere for a dog to hide. So he continues on by say that he went to push Jillian again and when he turned back around the dog had come back and moved the bag again. I asked if he saw the dog this time and he said no but what else could it be? Our conversation continued but this is the gist of it. He still believes a dog stole his samosas.

Damn those invisible dog are sooo tricky.

???

I just don't have a snappy title for this. I was sitting here earlier thinking that I hadn't blogged in awhile. I had a bit of blogger's block and I didn't feel like writing one of those "This is what I did on my summer vacation" posts. Well, lo and behold I stumble upon a controversial topic and I'm off to the races.
What is the topic you ask? RELIGION.
I've been talking about it more lately with certain people. I only talk about it with close friends I trust and I think can be open to different opinions. Because....here is comes....I'm pretty sure I don't believe in god. I definitely have serious issues with certain religions and the more I seek information, the more I don't buy into it all. Now, please, please DO NOT TRY TO SAVE MY SOUL. I speak the truth when I say others have tried. You cannot save me until I want to be saved (insert my eye roll here). This is where I insert my fair warning with both respect and sincerity that you might not want to read any further or you may offended. I really don't want to offend anyone as I know some of my friends are religious. I respect your beliefs but I just don't share them.
So I was reading an article this afternoon and woman was expressing her displeasure that prayer is no longer in the school and that the Canadian gov't may removed the words "under god" from our money. She was not happy about this stuff. She say it is her religious right to pray etc and that our society needs religion. She is of course corect but here is my take on this -

The Canadian Charter of Rights Section 2 (a) states that everyone has the fundamental rights of freedom of conscience and religion. The Canadian Human Rights Act and the International Declaration of Human Rights both state that we cannot be discriminated against due to our religions beliefs.
Beliefs do not mean Christianity. Beliefs mean Judaism, Islam, Satanism, Paganism, etc and...duh, duh, duh...the Atheists among us too. However, in North America it always seems to come back to Christianity. As far as I know, I could be misinformed, Canada does not have an "official" religion. So if we are going to promote religion in the school than you need to cover all your bases. When you take into consideration a geographic area with a diverse ethic community, you get into alot of different religions to cover during morning prayer at school.

Here's another thought - Why is Sunday shopping not permitted in Nova Scotia (and wasn't for many years in New Brunswick)? Because it's the day of God, right? Now, there are many groups that oppose Sunday shopping because they say it's the one day/week they can spend with their families and I cannot argue with that. But for those who argue the religion aspect - where does that leave the Jewish community? They celebrate their "god" on Saturday. Are we not discriminating against the Jewish community by forcing them to work/be open on the Holy Sabbath?
Just for kicks ponder this - What if someone in Nova Scotia decided to challenge the "No Sunday Shopping" rule based on the fact that they are banned from opening that day because it's a church day. Could they claim they are being discriminated against by being forced to remained closed when that Sunday is not a relgious day for them? The Charter and Human Rights Acts say you can't do that.

Essentially, I'm saying...What about my religious rights to NOT believe. I know most religions encourage believers to try to spread the word to us non-believers. But you know what, I don't go around trying to spread the word to the believers. I pretty much keep my mouth shut. There, there is another example, the believers feel free to talk about god, thank god, it's what god wants, god does this for a reason etc, god only gives us what we can handle. Those comments are people voicing their beliefs. Can you imagine if I answered with, "What do you mean God only gives us what we can handle? There is no God." That would go over like fart in a spacesuit. But I would never say something like that. You know why? Because I respect other beliefs. So, at the end of the day, I'm suggesting the believers shouldn't say these things - they should, it's their belief. What I'm saying is try to respect my non-beliefs too. I don't want to pray.

I had to go to court a few months ago for work. I had to get up in front of the judge and swear on the bible. That really made me think. Do they do that for Jewish people or do they have a Torah for them to swear on? What about Muslims...do they pull out a dusty copy of the Koran for them? For me swearing on the bible has no more significance than swearing on the phonebook or an old copy of Cosmopolitan magazine. But if it makes you feel better than so be it.

I apologize if it's choppy but I find this difficult to write. It's much easier to verbalize in a somewhat intelligent fashion.

Stuff

I'm home again today BUT I haven't take Advil in 6 hours and I just ate a piece of cake!! I'm only in mild pain right now - yah!! I'm going back to work tomorrow too. I just have to pic up some of the Campbell's soup that you can drink and I'll be all set. I'm going a bit stir crazy.
I went to the after hours clinic last night and I DON'T have strep throat. The Dr in Oromocto didn't swab my throat (as they usually do ). The Dr last night told my they have been seeing a lot of people with a virus (like a cold) that causes canker sores in the mouth and throat. This is what I have and antibiotics, as we all know, are ineffective on a virus. This virus lasts 7-10 days and just has to run it's course. I basically have open sores all up and down my throat. I had to laugh at one point. The doctor asked if I had sores anywhere else in my mouth. I told him I had some on the side of my tongue. He wrinkles up his face and says "Your tongue?" Hehehe...anyway I'm on the mend and I'm starving!!! But I'm not going to push things.

I'm sitting here watching The View for the 4th day in a row. I have to say that I'm glad Rosie O'Donnell is back on TV because she cracks me up. But she's a bit overbearing. She just did a broadway production with the Keebler Elf. Barbara W. didn't crack a smile the whole time. The other day Rosie really came down on Mike Boogie. He didn't even know what to say after awhile. It seems as though she has really changed the direction of the show. Soon it'll be "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" again. The View didn't give away things in the past. Today they've already given away at least 4 items.

I've had quite a bit of time to surf the internet this week. I have to say that I've seen waaaay more if Lindsay Lohan's nether regions than I wanted. You know her nickname, as appointed by Brandon Davis and Paris Hilton, is Firecrotch. I assume that is because she is a redhead. Well, I've decided this week, after having seen her jewels on the internet upteen times, that this is a total misnomer. I'm pretty sure she's had the Full Brazilian Wax at Avalon Spa. Unless they're implying someting else....
But seriously, how does one girl, who is supposedly not a porn star, get her goodies published that much?? She has had 2 flashing incidents in as many weeks. I admit I've had some flashing mishaps in the past but I was wearing underwear! For Pete sake LiLo put on some undies!!!!!

Kudos to Spain

I'm still home sick and after 3 days of meds I feel worse. I'm pretty discouraged. I called my doctor today and they said I need to be seen by someone ASAP but they couldn't take me. So I have to go sit at a clinic tonight. Woo hoo.
Anyway, I'm sitting here wallowing in my own self-pity when I find this little jewel on CNN.com
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/09/13/spain.models/index.html This article is about a fashion show in Madrid Spain. The orgaiizers have declared on ban on under-weight models! The models are being check over (using body mass index) by EMTs when they arrive and are not allowed to walk the catwalk if they are underweight. WOW! I think this is fantastic. Let's face it, most models are ridiculously thin and portray and unhealthy and unattainable image. Eating disorder rates in North America are through the roof and it's nice to see at least someone in the fashion industry take notice and, more importanty, act responsibly. The article goes on to say that organizers in Milan, Italy are consider imposing similar regulations at their fashion week. Hooray for Spain and Italy. Of course, modeling agencies are up in arms over this but who cares?!?!

Make It Stop

Oye. I'm admittedly a bad patient. I complain and whine, alot, to anyone who will listen when I am sick. Today I'm in a rather large amount of pain. The sores in my throat have advanced and taken over my tongue and both of my ears are now throbbing. Now that I've grossed everyone out...I'll continue.
I rent out an apartment in my basement. My feelings on that are a post for another day. They are nice people but I don't like having the apartment. Anyway, as I said I'm whiny and a bit sensitive to EVERYTHING today. They have a baby and, for the love of all things good, it seems the baby has been crying non-stop. It's not their fault or the baby's fault but somebody please, please make it stop. I just want the crying to stop and stop now. Argh. If I didn't think it would hurt so much I might break down and cry.
I'm in bad enough shape that I can't see myself returning to work again tomorrow. From what information I can find, I'm no longer contagious due to my meds. However, I don't think my co-workers want to hear my incessant whining. So far today, it's 10:32, I have completed 50% of a 6X6 baby gift album. Boy, I love my Close To My Heart 6X6 reflections guide for quick, easy albums. I'm hoping to finish the album by lunch time and start on my Christmas card order books this afternoon. Sleeping (breathing causes a dry throat) hurts like a bitch so I might just stay up late and keep working. Frankly, not sleepig seems like a better alternative to waking up in the night with my throat swollen half shut like I have the past few nights.

Sigh, I told you I'm a complainer and a big weenie.

In my Humble Opinion

I have strep throat. I was up bright and early to call my doctor's office this morning only to be told he wasn't in the office today. So I packed Jillian up and we drove to the Oromocto ER. We arrived at 10:10 and we were in the parking lot leaving at 10:47! In my humble opinion, it is NOT a good sign when the doctor looks in your mouth and says "That's a nasty mess."
I already new I had strep. I looked down my throat this morning with a flashlight and I didn't have to look far to see the giant puss postules. Also, last night I woke up short of breath because I could feel my airway restricted from the swelling.
Oh well, there is a silver lining. I have plenty of time to scrapbook for the next 2 days. Hopefully, I don't drool on my pages.

Woe is Me

Thursday night I was putting treat bags together for Jillians birthday party. I pulled a package of Finding Nemo rulers out of the shopping bag a bit too hard and I took the rulers to the eye. I dropped the rulers and sat with me hand over my eye. I told by dear husband that I thought I really hurt myself. He told me he once had a hole in his eye. Ummmm....I'm okay, thanks for asking, Dear. My eye was sore but I went to bed and fell asleep.
The next morning I got up, got ready for work, put in my contacts and put my makeup on as usual and didn't think anything of it. My eye was tender but nothing crazy. I did have the tip of a ruler inside my eye only a few hours before. I was standing at Tim's with my boss and co-workers around 8:30 and I was whining that my right eye was blurry and told them what happened. They sugguested that I should call my eye doctor.
When we got back to the office, I called the eye Dr and told them what I had done and that I had a blurry spot in my vision. I thought maybe I had cut my eyeball. The lady very calmly told me to come to the office immediately.
I made my way to the office and they took me in right away. The optometrist explained to me that they weren't too concerned that I had cut my eyeball because, apparently, I would be in a lot of pain and the light would be unbearable. Instead they were concerned that I had damaged the inside of my eye. She then went on to explain that I may have torn or detached my retina. Just incase you don't know....this is a big deal. A tear can be fixed by laser here in F'ton but if I had a detached retina it would have been an immediate trip to Halifax for surgery. Oye.
Anyway, they checked me all out. They dialated my pupil and took pics of the inside of my eye. Everything appeared to be fine but the optometrist said sometimes these things can appear a few days after an injury. So she gave me some criteria and told me to call her at home if any of those things happened. Thankfully, everything seems to be fine so far...with my eye anyway.
This morning I woke up with a sore throat and an ear ache. When I touch my neck it feels like someone inserted golf balls under my skin. Ouch.
Sigh, when it rains it pours. They say things happens in "3's". What next? My nose falls off?

Edit - Jillian is now puking.

Favourite Songs

It seems I have my MP3 player with me at all times these days. As I've mentioned in the past, I spend alot of time driving due to my job. Nothing makes the drive go by faster than singing my music at the top of my lungs.
Of course due to my recent concert adventures, I've been listening to alot of Dixie Chicks and Black Eyed Peas. But I've also re-discovered some old favourites such as "Lightening Crashes" by Live. I love that song. It takes me straight back to the summer of 1995. That was a goooooood summer. I can't really write about it because most of it shouldn never be talked about again.
Another one of my favourites is not old but it's not that well known. It's called "God's Top Ten" and it's the first track on the newest INXS album, Switch. I'm not sure what it is about this song but I just love it.
When I'm looking for a fun upbeat song to "car-dance" to I like to crank Fergie's "London Bridge". I'm finally starting to learn the words to this song. She's a dirty girl ;)
When I feel like really "belting out" a song I go for Rhianna's "Unfaithful". I can't really say anything about this. I know I'm going to take flak for listening to Rhianna but it's only this song that I like.
That is all I can think of right now. Now, I have 2 requests 1) What are your favourite songs right now? 2)What do you think Fergie is referring to her song "London Bridge"?

Frexibition

Today was Frexibition day for us. I left work early, went home got us some clothes, picked up JJ and Eric and we went to the Frex. We had a good time. I can't believe how bare the grounds were. Not a whole lot of attractions or people tonight.
This year Jillian was all about the rides. She went on them by herself and had a great time. She was all smiles and was even throwing her head back and laughing. The only ride she didn't care for was the Merry-Go-Round - she said it was boring. She wanted to get on the big rides so badly but we distracted her in hopes that she would forget. Not only is she too young, but we didn't want to get on. She wanted to get on the Ferris Wheel but it terrifies me. I'm talking frozen in fear kind of scared. So we stuck with the kiddie rides and she was content.
Jillian even managed to scam a few free rides. We were walking past one ride and she said she wanted to go on. The guy running it said pass her over the fence and he stuck her on just before he started it. We tried to give him tickets but he said not to worry about it. Hehehe...that girl has some of me in her after all.
Eric knew the police officer at the city police booth and he offered to let JJ sit in the police car but she wouldn't do it. Ugh...she does NOT get that from her mother. We also watched some pigs race which wasn't great. Oh! I almost forgot. Jillian met Bonnie Kilburn tonight. I introduced them and told Jillian she was going to dance at Bonnie's dance school. There was a video playing of some of the dancers and I asked JJ if she wanted to do that. She said she did. Jillian is totally gung-ho to start dance and keeps asking when she'll get to see Bonnie. Now I just have to explain to her that Bonnie won't acutally be teaching her. That will go over like a lead balloon.

Pump It... LOUDER

We're home and we had a great time! We arrived in PEI Saturday night around 10:30, checked in to our hotel, had a few drinks, and hit the hay. The next morning we were up and out the door by shortly after 9 am. We parked the truck and then walked to Tim's for breakfast. After that we got in line at at the front gates to the concert. Unfortunately, the crowd wasn't into making things fun while waiting. We tried to get people singing, clapping and even tried to start the wave without much success. Luckily, Nicole, Tori, Jeanette, Robin, and I are pretty loud and fun all on our own.
We finally got into the concert grounds after they opened the gates 30-40 mins late. Next, we had to go to security where they separated the men from the women. Weird. They said it was because male security couldn't frisk the female concerte goers. Not even when I offered to have the cute guy frisk me, begged, even offered money would they let me join the men's line. Damners. Our star of security was Jeanette when she hid her digital camera in her cleavage to get it inside. I was so proud of my girl...sniff, sniff. Anyway, we get in and we high tail it to the stage to get ourselves a spot. We secure a prime piece of real estate in front of a tower. We thought it was a good spot because nobody would be behind us pushing later that night. More on that later. I'll sum it up with a roll of my eyes.
After securing a spot, the first order of business was some lunch. Robin and I got a sub and since we were out we decided to get a drink. Off to the beer garden we go. Now, you'd think by the name we should have known, but much to my chagrin, they only served beer. I hate beer, really hate beer. But when you have no other choice it turns out beer with ice in it is drinkable. Other than us, there was one other person in the beer garden. No problem, we are the type of girls to make our own fun so we strike up a conversation with some security guards. One even brings us a bottle of water.
Our prime piece of real estate by the stage was bloody hot and we couldn't drink beer there. Unfortunately, Robin and I spent alot of time away from the girls while we drank beer. Stabilo and Mobile sounded great from the beer garden. We watched to the Philosopher Kings from the beer garden for awhile and then headed back to the girls. I loved the Philosopher Kings. I just downloaded some of their music to my MP3 player.
Robin and I had some good times in the beer garden. I had a race with some people to get a porta-potty (in good fun..some guy said 1,2,3, GO!) It was a good laugh. We watched another guy repeatedly open the door while his buddy used the facilities, I got high just from the smell in one porta-potty, and I wondered why so many girls were coming out of porta-potties in pairs. Seriously, what the hell are they doing in there???
Things got crazy when the Pussycat Dolls took the stage. People were pushing and shoving, we couldn't see the stage at all, and it was just not fun. We found the one bitchiest girl at the concert at that point. Not fun at all. So we got out of the crowd and moved further from the stage. We still couldn't see great but we could see the screen for the Peas.
The Black Eyed Peas....what can I say? They ROCKED!!! Their show was awesome. I danced like a lunatic the whole time and didn't care one bit. There really isn't any more I can say about them. The rocked the house and they rocked it hard.
Now, I've been saving this for last. I have to give a huge shout out to TORI. She is a class act. I really forgot most of the time that she is only 11 years old. I complained more than she did. It was a very long day, it was hot, and we couldn't see very well for the headliners. But she didn't complained once. She may have said something to her mom but I didn't hear a single complaint out of her. She was a total trooper and she was game for anything that came her way. She danced to the Peas and she put up with her mother and I singing loudly and dancing while leaving the park. Not only did she put up with us but she held our hands and joked with us. Tori is a cool girl and a was pleasure to have around this weekend. My only warning is not to let her eat apple late at night...wink, wink.

INXS

I mentioned INXS in my last post and decided to write about my concert experience with them.

I didn't really watch Rockstar - INXS but I heard all the talk and knew JD Fortune, from Nova Scotia, won the show. So the day of the concert here, my best bud Shelley called and asked if I wanted to go. I said sure - she was surprised I said yes :) Anyway, I'm so glad I went it was a really great concert! JD Fortune is a great entertainer and every bit a rockstart. I absolutely left the concert a huge fan. Side note - my not quite 3 year old daughter will tell you her favourite song is Devil's Party by INXS.
Here is the part of the concert I wanted to share. I know some of you have heard this already but hang in there. I had 2 empty seats beside me at the concert. At intermission a local media celebrity and his young son take the seats. The man strikes up a conversation with me and we chit chat until the show starts. He was really nice and I'd guess his son was about 10 or 11 years old.
I cant' remember what song it was but during an excrutiatingly long instrumental, JD simulates oral sex on a woman with his microphone stand. OH MY GOD! It was very, very graphic and left nothing to the imagination. Normally this stuff doesn't bother me but this time all I can thing of is "SHIT, I'm standing beside a 10 year old boy. Oh my god, does he know what this is? Don't look at him! Yes, he knows what this is, he's like 10 or 11 years old!" There was alot more swearing going on in my head, I tell you. It was so painfully long and so incredibly uncomfortable. That episode was half way through the set and at the end of the concert I couldn't even look in their direction. Oye. As, Pritty Kitty says....that's all I have to say about that.

BEP Road Trip 2006

Picture it...August 2006...5 hot girls leave Fredericton, carefree, wind in their hair. Heading out on the open road for PEI and the Black Eyed Peas! Woo Hoo! We're leaving tomorrow night at 6 pm for Blast at the Beach. It should really be called Blast at the Race Track since they moved the venue. But whatever I can shake my lady lumps just about anywhere.
We should arrive in PEI around 9:30 - 10, maybe order some chinese food and have a few drinks. The next morning we'll need a big nutritious breakfast to get us is form for the big concert. The gates open at noon and the BEP don't take the stage until 9 pm. The BEP are the main draw for me. I may want to poke my own eyes out before the end of the Pussycat Dolls but I'll manage :) I really like Stabilo. They opened for INXS and they were good. After the concert it'll be back to the hotel and maybe some food. It promises to be a good time. These are all my ideas of course, the other girls may have some different ideas.
Tomorrow I'm going to spend some time with my best girl and my best guy. I'm a bit torn about going away. I know I'll have a good time but this is really the last weekend of the summer and I'd like to hang out with Eric and JJ. Oh well, I'll make it up to them.
But now, I must turn on my MP3 player and "chair dance" for the rest of the day.
